Our story
Chamise5ja exists where the idea of a corridor meets the reality of a movement. We’re a digital creative platform and a community-driven space, rooted in the UK creative ecosystem and linked to Corridor8—the long-standing home for contemporary art and writing in the North of England.
The name itself is deliberate. “Chamise” suggests a path or a channel; “5ja” anchors that path in a specific moment and identity. Together they signal that we’re not a generic creative agency. We’re a corridor: a place where people and ideas pass through, meet, and sometimes stay to build something new.
Our work sits at the intersection of urban culture and digital creativity. We care about how cities shape art and writing, and how online spaces can extend—without replacing—the kind of connection that happens in person. The North’s creative geography—Sheffield, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, and the towns in between—informs what we do. So does the belief that the best collaborative network is one that stays open, inclusive, and committed to quality.
We run projects that put ideas into practice: residencies, publications, and events. We publish insights that add to the conversation rather than repeat it. And we nurture a community of artists, writers, and organisations who share a commitment to the corridor—to passage, connection, and what happens next.
If you’re curious about working with us or simply want to say hello, get in touch. The corridor is open.
